EcoVadis
EcoVadis is one of the world’s largest providers of business sustainability ratings. Its platform assesses companies across four themes , Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement , using a methodology based on international standards such as the UN Global Compact, ISO 26000, and the GRI Standards.
The EcoVadis assessment process works as follows:
- Questionnaire: Companies complete a tailored questionnaire covering policies, actions, and results across all four themes
- Documentation: Supporting evidence is uploaded (certificates, reports, policies)
- Analysis: EcoVadis analysts review responses against sector and size benchmarks
- Scorecard: A score from 0–100 is assigned, with medal recognition (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum)
Over 130,000 companies across 180+ countries have been rated by EcoVadis. The rating is widely used in supply chain management , large corporations often require their suppliers to achieve a minimum EcoVadis score as part of procurement criteria.
Key reasons companies pursue EcoVadis ratings:
- Customer requirements , many RFPs include EcoVadis score thresholds
- Benchmarking , compare ESG performance against industry peers
- Improvement roadmap , the scorecard highlights specific areas for action
- Complementary to regulation , supports CSRD readiness by formalising sustainability processes
Companies preparing for EcoVadis assessments often use platforms like Dcycle to organise their environmental data, calculate their carbon footprint, and generate the documentation required for a strong submission.
