Methodology and partners.

Climate Change Office United Nations (UNFCCC).

Platform that certifies carbon offsetting and carbon footprint negativisation. It supports emission reduction projects and contributes to sustainable development in emerging countries. Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) are granted after a registration, validation and certification process based on intergovernmental standards. At Dcycle we carry out the calculation, offsetting and negativisation of emissions.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In 2015, the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development defined a plan to achieve a sustainable future on a global scale. It created 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a roadmap for the 193 member countries to fight poverty and make a fairer distribution of the world’s resources. They are the roadmap on the commitment to economic, environmental and social sustainability. At Dcycle, all our actions are carried out to achieve SDGs 11, 12 and 13 (Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption and Production and Climate Action).

ISO-14001, ISO 14040 and ISO-14064.

An international framework created to ensure that each company’s products and services meet specific sustainability needs. At Dcycle we work in accordance with the ISO-14001 standard for environmental management systems, the ISO-14040 standard for life cycle analysis and the ISO-14064 standard for Greenhouse Gases (GHG). In this way we help companies to develop a coherent and efficient sustainability strategy.

European Ecolabel.

A voluntary instrument that helps companies to improve their environmental impact. It establishes a set of criteria on which different products can be based to reduce their emissions. It aims to promote both sustainable practices and greater transparency. It is endorsed by EU environmental authorities and Member States, and serves Dcycle as a starting point for what is considered to be a product with a reduced impact.

European Product Environmental Footprint (PEF).

Methodology for calculating the total environmental impact of products. It aims to enable the provision of reliable and comparable product information, promoting a single EU market for environmentally friendly products.

Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

An international non-governmental organisation whose objective is to promote Sustainability Reporting as a tool for planning, measuring, evaluating and communicating the progress and impact of an organisation’s social, economic and environmental aspects. These GRI standards represent the best practices at a global level.

EU taxonomy.

A classification system of the EU which establishes a list of sustainable economic activities and provides definitions of which activities can be considered environmentally sustainability. It is a common language for businesses and investors.

Global standards to calculate GHG emissions inventories.

It is based on a complex and extensive methodology and it includes seven greenhouse gases: carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PCFs), sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) and nitrogen trifluoride (NF3).
