Thirty-five years ago (1989), three years after Spain joined the CEE (Comunidad Económica Europea), companies in Spain were mandated to submit annual financial statements. It’s hard to imagine the corporate world without this gravitational center, but back then, the way businesses were managed was about to undergo a radical transformation. Can you imagine what it was like before this moment? The value of economic information, the cadence, the timing, the type of work, the importance of the CFO...
On January 1, 2025, the CSRD will come into effect with its — promised and long-awaited — Spanish transposition. The EU’s main objective? To equate financial and non-financial management. A paradigm shift on the same scale as the one three decades ago.
A moment of nervous excitement. An opportunity. Fear. Hope. The time has come to step forward and rise. To demonstrate the value of sustainability.
But wait, let’s address the elephant in the room... Are we ready? Do we even want to do this? Do we have the internal support to make it happen? Why do so many seem eager to keep looking the other way? Are we fully aware of all it entails?
Hold on a second, play along with me. Try to look into the future and imagine what the role of sustainability will look like in not-so-distant times. What do you see? Allow me to venture a guess. Here’s what I see:
Internal thought leaders, integral processes embraced by all company areas; and actions that impact the profit and loss account — both financial and sustainability-driven.
If your vision of the future overlaps with mine, what do you think is needed to make it a reality?
Three years ago, Jacobo, Luis, and Juanjo, childhood friends passionate about building a more human future, asked ourselves this same question. After speaking with thousands of sustainability professionals, helping many others, and working for just as many, we came to a common conclusion: trustworthy data. Thus, on September 21, 2021, Dcycle was born.
Since then, we’ve had the privilege of serving over a thousand companies, growing a team of more than 50 colleagues, and inching closer each day to that shared vision of the future: creating a worthy tool for the sustainability professional of tomorrow and providing them with reliable data.
Today, we add €6 million more to keep building the future we envision.
Thank you for allowing us to build that ambitious future together.
Media outlets such as El Español, El Economista, and 20 Minutos, among others, have also announced this milestone, highlighting our continued efforts to shape the future of sustainability.
More speed: Want to keep getting ahead of the curve? To enjoy the best features faster? It’s no secret that every time we launch a new functionality, a few months later, you might see it pop up in some other tools (those AI-powered ones). But if you want to be on the team that defines those functionalities and leads the way, you know it has to be Dcycle.
Higher quality: We are Spain’s leading tool in terms of client numbers and managed data. We’re also the first in the country certified under ISO 14064. The first to achieve ISO 27001. This is no coincidence. Every day, we strive to reach the quality level sustainability professionals deserve. We don’t want to oversell or peddle smoke; we simply want to rise to your level. To prove that we can create world-class software products from Spain that not only compete but win against global leaders.
Less nonsense: We said it when it was true: "No one has a f***ing idea about the CSRD." Little by little, we’re learning more (even if the transposition hasn’t been finalized). We’ll be here to keep making it intelligible and digestible. We serve over a thousand companies, which means we’ve seen almost every scenario and likely have someone similar to you (in size, complexity, industry, or processes) to lean on when you have doubts.
If you’re a top performer and want to do something big, we’re looking for you.
Thank you,
Juanjo Mestre
