What’s new
Pivot tables in the Carbon Footprint and ISO 14064 categories now include a selector that lets you toggle between the two Scope 2 emission calculation methods: market-based and location-based. This new option gives you full control over which approach to use in your visualizations.
The available options are:
- Market-based: uses the emission factors specific to your contracted electricity supplier. This is the default selection.
- Location-based: uses the emission factors from the local grid electricity mix where your facility is located. Each pivot table will display data exclusively for the selected method, allowing you to analyze your Scope 2 emissions from the perspective that best fits your reporting needs.
How to use it
When configuring a Carbon Footprint or ISO 14064 pivot table, you will find a new field called “Scope 2 emissions” in the Details section, right below the consolidation method selector. Choose the method you want to apply and the table will automatically recalculate.
Additionally, the widget subtitle now clearly indicates which emission method is active, so you always have visibility into which data you are viewing.
Why it matters
Correctly differentiating between the market-based and location-based approaches is a fundamental requirement of the GHG Protocol standards and is essential for producing reliable sustainability reports. With this selector, you can easily compare both approaches and choose the one that best fits your reporting strategy, whether for regulatory compliance, investor communications, or internal analysis.
Existing pivot tables use the market-based method by default, maintaining consistency with the platform’s standard behavior.
