How it works
From raw data to verified carbon footprint
01
Collect data automatically
Connect your ERPs, energy management systems, and utility providers through native integrations. Dcycle imports electricity bills, fuel purchases, business travel records, freight data, and more, directly from the source. You can also upload invoices and documents manually: the platform extracts, validates, and classifies every data point. No more copying between spreadsheets or chasing colleagues for missing figures.

02
Calculate Scope 1, 2 and 3
Dcycle classifies every activity into the correct GHG Protocol scope and category automatically. Fuel combustion goes to Scope 1, purchased electricity to Scope 2 (both location-based and market-based), and upstream transport, business travel, purchased goods, and waste to the corresponding Scope 3 categories. The platform applies emission factors from recognised databases (DEFRA, IPCC, national registries) and lets you override with supplier-specific factors when available. The result is a complete emissions inventory broken down by scope, category, facility, and period.

Choose the factor behind every number
A number is only as defensible as the factor under it. Dcycle shows which database and which version produced each result, and lets you change it: pick DEFRA, Ecoinvent, Agribalyse or EXIOBASE per purchase, and enter physical quantities such as kilograms instead of relying on spend. Load your own supplier-specific factors, organise them into folders, upload them in bulk from Excel or create them through the MCP Server, and select them straight from the configuration screen. Official sources are versioned, so you choose the version per year and per subsidiary and recalculate when a registry publishes an update mid-year.

Trace every figure back to source
Every emission figure in your footprint links back to the original activity data, the emission factor applied, the database version, and the user who entered or validated it. Auditors can click on any number and follow the chain to its source document without requesting additional information. When emission factor databases are updated, Dcycle flags affected calculations so you can review and recalculate if needed. This level of traceability is what turns a spreadsheet exercise into an audit-ready measurement.

Generate audit-ready reports
The Report Builder produces your carbon footprint report in the format required by each standard: GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, ISO 14064-1, or your country's national registry. Select sections, add narrative explanations, and attach evidence. Dcycle generates pivot tables that update in real time so you can explore emissions by scope, category, facility, or any custom dimension. Export to Excel with full formatting or to PDF for external verifiers. Every figure includes a traceability link to its source.

“Dcycle helped us consolidate 6 facilities across 2 countries into a single source of truth. Our auditors couldn't believe the level of traceability.”
Lina PenaCorp. Services Director, KLN Iberia
“I see your help as super necessary. I can't imagine maintaining the contract without your advisory component. We went from scattered spreadsheets to a unified system in weeks.”
Dcycle covers the full GHG Protocol Corporate Standard: Scope 1 (direct emissions from owned sources), Scope 2 (indirect emissions from purchased energy, both location-based and market-based), and all 15 Scope 3 categories (purchased goods and services, capital goods, fuel and energy related activities, upstream transport, waste, business travel, employee commuting, upstream leased assets, downstream transport, processing of sold products, use of sold products, end-of-life treatment, downstream leased assets, franchises, and investments).
Which emission factor databases are included?
Dcycle includes over 50,000 emission factors from internationally recognised databases: UK DEFRA, IPCC, GHG Protocol, and country-specific registries (MITECO for Spain, UBA for Germany, EPA for the US, among others). Databases are updated annually when new versions are published. You can also upload supplier-specific emission factors and apply them to individual data points for greater accuracy.
Can Dcycle consolidate carbon footprints across multiple sites?
Yes. Dcycle consolidates emissions from every facility, subsidiary, and country into a group-level carbon footprint. You can set organisational boundaries using operational control or financial control approaches, as required by GHG Protocol. Each entity manages its own data while Dcycle rolls everything up automatically. When a subsidiary updates its figures, the group footprint reflects it in real time.
Are the reports valid for third-party verification?
Yes. Every report includes full traceability: source document, applied emission factor, database version, calculation methodology, and responsible user. Auditors can verify every figure back to its origin without requesting additional documentation. Reports are generated in the formats required by each standard (GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, national registries) and can be exported to Excel or PDF.
How does carbon footprint data connect to other frameworks?
The emissions data Dcycle calculates for your carbon footprint is the same data that feeds your CSRD report (ESRS E1), your EcoVadis assessment, your CDP disclosure, your ISO certifications, and your SBTi submission. There is no duplicated work: you enter the data once in the carbon footprint measurement workflow and Dcycle routes each figure automatically to every framework that needs it. See all supported frameworks at /frameworks/.
Can I use my own emission factors?
Yes. Custom factors are a first-class part of the platform, not a workaround: organise them into folders, bulk upload them from an Excel file or create them through the MCP Server, and select them directly from the emission factors configuration screen. They cover categories such as goods shipped and received, employees and business travel, which matters when a supplier gives you a factor more accurate than any generic database.
Can I choose which database is used for a given purchase?
Yes. Every purchase shows which database and factor produced its result, and you can switch it to DEFRA, Ecoinvent, Agribalyse or EXIOBASE from the record itself. You can also enter the physical quantity and unit, kilograms bought rather than euros spent, so the factor is applied to the real amount instead of an estimate derived from cost.
What happens when a factor database is updated mid-year?
You keep control of the version. Factors are versioned, so you choose which version applies per year and per subsidiary, and Dcycle flags the calculations a new release affects so you can review and recalculate deliberately. A verifier can ask which version produced a figure two years ago and the answer is in the record, not in somebody's memory.
